swimming like fish

Saw Sonic Youth at McCarren Pool last night. They opened with two brand new numbers, then went back to “Burning Spear,” their very first song.

Thurston demanded that the audience throw beach balls at his head, but I only saw one hit Lee.

“Silver Rocket,” I believe, was dedicated to the spirit of Adam Nodelman, member of Sunburned Hand and many other bands, who died suddenly last week.

Mark Ibold of Pavement kicked it on bass.

“Expressway to Yr Skull” fittingly ended the pool’s time as a music venue.
