So, I don’t have a badge, but I’ve enjoyed a little bit of the CMJ Music Marathon here in NYC this week. The highlight so far was seeing Marnie Stern and her band tear things up at Cake Shop. Her new album, reviewed to your right, is one of my current favs, and I highly recommend checking it out. (Look back here soon for more cool stuff on Marnie…)
I’ll be seeing Marnie again tomorrow night, along with A Place To Bury Strangers ( with whom I’m pretty unfamiliar), Crystal Antlers (who didn’t impress me at SXSW), Vivian Girls (who some people love to hate, it seems–I just love to love their sweet tunes) and All The Saints. I also plan on checking out the massive WFMU Record Fair sometime this weekend.
CMJ hasn’t been quite as intense and exciting as my trip to SXSW, but it’s been fun nonetheless.
