Albums of 2008: Day 15 - Abel Okugawa - Dance Like A Speaker

Today’s album is one I’ve written up for this week’s issue of C-VILLE Weekly. It’s Abel Okugawa’s Dance Like A Speaker. Abel is the engineer at Monkeyclaus, a magical recording facility and technologically progressive music distribution service in an old converted barn tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. A wide variety of musicians have graced the studio, including Birdlips, Skeletons and Jackie-O-Motherfucker. At the studio’s grand opening, I saw Them Against Them perform. The last time I visited, I saw a group of experimental musicians who were in the middle of an East Coast tour for which they were only traveling by bicycle.
