Albums of 2008: Day 4 - She & Him - Volume One

You can read what I had to say about this album in the review I wrote for C-VILLE back in April. I still skip over the cover tunes, but other than that, this one is definitely holding up. Zooey and M. keep things simple, but in that simplicity there’s a wonderful, sweet emotional punch.
I think “Change Is Hard” has emerged as my top track. The pair brings together perfect guitar and vocal twang and, even on this sad number, it seems natural to be swaying and snapping your fingers to the beat.
Word is that Ms. Deschanel and Mr. Ward are working on Volume Two. Can’t wait!
