Looking at Music: Side 2
by John

For those of you in NYC, the Museum of Modern Art has a cool exhibition up right now about late ’70s/early ’80s New York music, including the likes of Sonic Youth, Patti Smith, Television, Blondie, Talking Heads and Suicide. After checking out the Ensor exhibit last week, I headed back yesterday to see this one. They’ve got zines, posters, listening stations, films, photos and other assorted art. MoMA is free on Fridays after 4pm.
And, on a related note, the museum also has a series of 12 Jonathan Monk watercolor paintings (entitled “Stop Me If You Think That You’ve Heard This One Before”) that correspond to 12″ singles by The Smiths.
